Centre for Child Protection - Professor of Child Protection appointed

Dr Dorothy Scott, OAM, PhD has been appointed to the position of
Professor of Child Protection and Director, Centre for Child Protection at
the University of South Australia. The new Centre for Child Protection is
located within the Hawke Research Institute.
Dr Scott is currently the Head of the School of Social Work at the
University of Melbourne, where she has taught for the past two decades. She
has a social work background in the field of child protection, and her
research and policy interests are related to strengthening families and
rebuilding communities. For her service to child welfare she has been
awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and the Centenary Medal. She
will take up her new position in March 2005.
