Sunday 29 April 2012
Sunday 29 April saw UniSA's inaugural Ride for Pain. The day was
an enormous success, with close to 550 riders taking to the
streets of Adelaide to shed light on the frequently overlooked
issue of chronic pain. Around 400 riders took on the 100km
Adelaide Hills route, with many stepping up to overcome the
aptly offered pain challenge, conquering much revered (or should
that be feared?) Corkscrew Road - a 2.4km uphill climb with an
average gradient of 9.4%.
Thanks to Fasta Pasta and UniSA, two lucky teams did not suffer
in vain. Congratulations to 'Room 2 Move' and 'Lakes Triathlon
Club' ' you'll soon be able to carbo load for your next big ride
having won for yourselves 25 vouchers for a main pasta dish. The
first 50 riders to reach the top also landed themselves a
voucher for a complimentary main pasta.
Thank you to our major sponsors, GIO Worker's Compensation and
WorkCover SA, and to everyone that donned their lycra at the
crack of dawn to help raise awareness and research funds for
chronic pain.
