Sessional staff

Why do sessional staff staff need staff home pages?

Besides the normal reasons associated with maintaining a professional profile, it is especially important for sessional and casual staff―particularly those who do not have a defined office or telephone number― to customise their staff home pages. This is because the page will not be very helpful to students, peers and the public, as information about how and when you are available for contact is not included by default.

How do I get a staff home page?

If you search for your staff home page (see Find your staff home page) and do not find it you will need to take steps to activate it.

Being listed in the Human Resources database and having a current UniSA network account are the two prerequisites for having a staff home page, so:

  1. If the University does not pay you directly, that is, you either invoice your School or you are an adjunct, then you will need to complete and submit the Non-paid personnel form (Word, 83 KB - link opens in new window) to have your details entered into the Human Resources database.
  2. If you do not have a current UniSA network staff account your supervisor or line manager will need to complete and submit the Staff computer network access form (Word, 49 KB - link opens in new window) to have one created.

Below is an excerpt from the Staff computer network access form:

Your supervisor must mark the box indicating Email and PC/Mac Network Logon Access, as indicated by the arrow in the image above, in order to provide you with a staff home page.

What happens to my staff home page between contracts?

Your staff home page may be deactivated between contracts. However, any information you have added to your staff home page will be stored in the UniSAnet database―it will not be deleted. When you return to work at UniSA ensure that your previous employee number is reused by Human Resources and your staff home page will be reactivated (along with any information you have previously added to it).
