Research Project: Making Diversity Work
Researchers at the School of Management, University of South Australia and the Melbourne Business School are engaged in a research partnership with the Australian Senior Human Resources Roundtable and Diversity@Work to understand how employee diversity is affecting Australian organisations. Our focus is on demographic diversity – diversity resulting from differences in employee gender, age, cultural background, or disability status.
Your employer (UniSA) participated in the first phase of this research. Your organisation’s management provided background information about the diversity management practices that operate in your organisation. We are now seeking to evaluate the impact of these practices from an employee perspective. Only employees like you can provide the “employee” perspective on effective diversity management, so your answers are of great value to this project!
The link below will take you to an Employee Survey that asks you to describe how you feel about your job and your organisation. This same survey is being sent to employees in many organisations across Australia. We will be COMBINING the results ACROSS EMPLOYEES and ACROSS EMPLOYERS in order to assess the impact of different organisational practices on employees. As a result, your individual responses cannot be identified in any way. Please complete the survey and submit it within two weeks. The survey should only take about 15 minutes to complete.
Click here to do the survey http://making-diversity-work.websurvey.net.au/employee-survey/?o=unisa
If you have any problems accessing the survey, please email the research team at DiversityResearch@unisa.edu.au.
Your participation in this research is completely voluntary. The only identifier is the name of your organisation. The survey is anonymous and your answers will be kept completely confidential. No company or individual names will be used in any research presentations or reports. The data will be stored securely at the School of Management, City West Campus, University of South Australia for five years from the date of publication before being destroyed.
We will be providing your employer with a report that compares employee reactions in different types of organisations (organisations with different types of diversity management practices). If you’d like to see a summary of the project’s findings, please send a request to DiversityResearch@unisa.edu.au, providing an email address to which the report can be mailed. The report will be available in early 2011, after we have analysed the survey data.
This project has been approved by the University of South Australia’s Human Research Ethics Committee.
