2012 Handbook and E-brochure - Feedback Request
We have had our 2012 handbook in the market for a few months now and have recently released our new
e-brochure as a digital alternative to providing students with information.
Most of you will have had the opportunity to use one or both of these materials and we would
appreciate your feedback via the two attached forms in order to
improve the materials we provide to you.
Adelaide crowned nation's most liveable city!
A national survey of over 4,000 residents of Australian capital
cities by the Property Council of Australia has ranked Adelaide as the nation's most liveable city.
Adelaide scored an overall liveability score of just over 63% on a scale of 17 attributes including
school facilities, public transport and natural environment.
New Yorker magazine has described Adelaide as "possibly the last well-planned
and contented metropolis on earth" and Lonely Planet depicts our capital as "civilised and calm
in a way that no other Australian State capital can match".

ADMISSIONS UPDATE
VISA status of a student
To assist us in ensuring we are not issuing COE's to students who do not require them
(i.e. they are on another type of visa such as a temporary visa and do not require a COE),
please provide us with the details and evidence of their visa. You can provide us with this information
at any stage of the application process, including on the initial application form.
OSHC Payments
Please note the different processes for SAIBT and CELUSA OSHC payments.
SAIBT students pay the UniSA component of OSHC to SAIBT as
SAIBT issue the UniSA CoE on our behalf and must be able to
demonstrate that the student has OSHC on the CoE.
CELUSA students pay their UniSA component of OSHC when we
issue their CoE for their packaged offer. CELUSA do not issue
the UniSA CoE on our behalf so we are required to have the OSHC
payment at this point of the application process.

Accounting Career Prospects Improve
An article in state newspaper, The Advertiser on Saturday May 14th,
2011 reports that job opportunities for accounting graduates in Adelaide
have exploded following the global financial crisis, due to companies now
moving to safeguard themselves against future downturns.
There is also suggestion from recent reports that the Big4 accounting firms - Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst
& Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers will increase their graduate recruitment over the coming year.
Students are, however, being warned to start their job hunt early and concentrate on their studies to
maximise their chances of success.
Executive Partners Program
Recently launched by the School of Management, this program aims to enrich the
School’s academic programs by providing high achieving postgraduate students
with industry insights from an executive partner who is associated with the School.
The executive partners add a valued dimension in linking the students academic learning
to the business world. Our Executive Partners are currently active, semi-retired or recently
retired senior executives who contribute to students fuller understanding of work and industry.
International students are eligible across all Management disciplines and candidates are invited
based on GPA. This one-on-one approach is personalised and tailored to each student with the aim of
broadening their learning experience, expanding professional networks, increasing confidence and motivation,
improved job opportunities and superior awareness, skills and knowledge.

New State-of-the-Art Nursing Practice Labs
A simulated hospital environment to assist in the education and training of
the nurses and midwives of the future was launched at the University of South
Australia (UniSA) on International Nurses Day,
May 12, 2011.
The Practice Based Laboratories will enable students at UniSA's School of Nursing
& Midwifery to interact with 'patients' in authentic replicas of hospital
and community settings. These include a simulated midwifery and paediatric unit,
a medical unit, a day surgery and recovery unit, an emergency department,
critical care unit and a surgical unit as well as a simulated community-based
clinic and a home-visit scenario.
Facilitated by working clinicians who are experts in their field
and with each area operating as a real hospital, ward or clinic, students behave as they would in
a real life situation.
The laboratories have been designed to safely and comprehensively prepare students
to face the challenges of a busy health care environment during
the clinical placements undertaken in their undergraduate program.

UniSA is now offering the Bachelor of IT (Cloud Computing) commencing in 2012
Cloud Computing is an emerging service in the IT industry that is continuing to gain speed. Although in it's early stages, its growing
popularity for its ability to increase capacity and add capabilities without investing in new
infrastructure, training personnel or licensing new software, are proving to be major benefits.
These potential benefits, as well as scalability and reduced cost, are driving
the rapid development and uptake of the various cloud services. Analysts predict that this trend will
continue to accelerate in the coming years.
UniSA remains at the forefront of delivering the most up to date programs and knowledge
to our students and offer one of the first degrees specialising in Cloud Computing.
More information will be provided to you in the next newsletter, along with an interview with the
Program Director.
