About The Australia Awards
The
Australia Awards incorporate all the scholarships and awards offered by the
Australian Federal Government.
International students study at the University of South Australia through the following Australian Government Funded Scholarships:
Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)
The AusAID Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) program aims to strengthen human resource capacity in Australia's partner countries to contribute to long-term development needs and promote greater stability within the Asia-Pacific region. Dependent on the participating country, these awards support Bachelor, Postgraduate Coursework and Research degrees.
- Value: $25,000 annual stipend (2010), $5000 establishment allowance, tuition fees and return airfare
- 2 rounds per year & applications made directly to Participating Countries

Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) Scholarships
The AusAID Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) scholarships aim to develop leadership, build partnerships and links, and address priority issues in the Asia-Pacific region. The ALA program provides quality education in Australia to current and future leaders from the Asia-Pacific region.
- These awards are for Masters or Doctorate degree programs
- Value: $26,800 annual stipend (2010), $5000 establishment allowance, tuition fees and return airfare
- $2,000 annual study enrichment allowance for field research, academic support, conference participation or reunion travel costs.
- Leadership training
- Will need a letter of offer from UniSA to submit as part of the application to AusAID, due 30th June

Endeavour Postgraduate Awards
The Endeavour Postgraduate Awards aim to strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and the participating countries.
- These awards support postgraduate coursework or research degrees for upto three year programs
- Value: $30,000 annual stipend (2010), $5000 establishment allowance, tuition fees and return airfare
- Will need a letter of offer from UniSA to submit as part of the application due 30th June

Student support services
As well as offering a wide range of quality academic programs, UniSA provides extensive support services for all international students.
These include:
- Free airport reception
- Assistance with both temporary on-arrival accommodation and suitable longer term accommodation
- A targeted 5 week introductory academic course prior to commencement of the formal academic program for all scholars
- Online peer mentoring - an opportunity before you depart your home country to have online discussions with current UniSA students (both international and local) to ask the questions you really need the answer to
- Orientation 'buddies' - current students who help new students find their way around the campus and assist with many other practical issues
- Research Education - a UniSA team which helps research students with advice on a range of research-related issues, as well as offering workshops and written resources
- International Student Advisors on every campus throughout the year, to deal with international student questions and problems
- Learning advisors to provide specific academic support
- Counselling support and advice for both academic and personal issues
- Disability assistance for students with a disability, to resolve issues such as physical access to some locations, specialised equipment, and sign language interpreters
- Support for accompanying families
- Muslim prayer rooms on all campuses, and a selection of halal food in University cafeterias
- Education for your Children (SA State Government)

UniSA is pleased to provide a dedicated team who provide special assistance and advice to our recognised sponsored students and sponsoring authorities.
We provide the following services to sponsors and registered sponsored students:
- Designated staff member to liaise between sponsor, student and UniSA
- Assistance to students in fulfilling the requirements of their sponsorship agreements
- Monitor of academic progress
- Academic results and progress reports as requested by sponsors
- Coordination of sponsor visits to UniSA
- Communication services for students for sponsorship related matters, including use of office fax, telephone and express mail.
