How do I arrange my On Arrival Reception?
You can book On Arrival Reception by completing the Online On Arrival Reception Booking Form located on the University's website. You will need to submit your booking at least 3 days before your arrival in Adelaide.
Once you have completed the Online On Arrival Reception Booking Form an automatic response will be generated. If you send an On Arrival Booking Form via email or fax the On Arrival Reception Coordinator will confirm your booking by an automatic response email once your data is entered into the booking system.
If your arrival details change, please access the On Arrival Reception Service website. Enter your UniSA Student ID number and your Family Name, then click the Login button and simply change your arrival details online. Alternatively, you should notify the On Arrival Reception Services Officer immediately by email: email@example.com
New arrangements will be made only if the On Arrival Reception Coordinator is notified of a change in arrival details at least 3 days before you arrive in Adelaide.
You will be met by a representative from the University. The meeting point for all international students who are arriving in Adelaide by aeroplane is at the Adelaide airport next to the Travel Services counter (close to the lower ground, main airport exit doors and elevators). A representative from the University will be at this meeting point holding a UniSA sign. The representative from the University will provide you with a Welcome Pack that contains information about where to go and who to see in the University.
Please note: The On Arrival Reception Service is only available to new international students and their partner and children. Other family members and friends travelling with you will need to travel separately, at their own expense, to their arranged place of accommodation. It is not possible to organise the transfer of other family members.
Once you arrive in Adelaide you may need to find a place of worship. Information related to your religion can be found on the University's religious needs web page.
You will be advised about when you have to be at University in your acceptance letter. See also orientation for international students.
While it is important that you arrive in time for your orientation to UniSA for International students program, if you wish to arrive well before orientation then you need to be aware that you will only have access to limited resources. For example, if you arrive several weeks before orientation, you will not be able to:
- enrol in Courses in your Program;
- obtain a UniSA username and password for computer access;
- access email and the internet through UniSA's online environment;
- organise your Student ID card (and therefore obtain concession travel fares);
- access the UniSA Rental Database; and
- legally work in Australia.
However, there are some things that you will be able to organise if you arrive early. You may focus instead, on:
- settling into Adelaide;
- adjusting to the environment around you;
- opening a bank account (you will need proof of identity such as a passport and credit card); and
- looking for long-term accommodation.
If you arrive in Adelaide well before the commencement of your orientation program, please make sure you come and see staff at Learning and Teaching Unit. International Student Officer's are available for appointments on each campus, if required. For information about your orientation start date please visit the Orientation to UniSA for International students web page.
The On Arrival Reception service is free of charge for new International students and their immediate dependents.
If you use this service and are not eligible for it, you may be charged a standard fee of AUD$40 to $70 for the hire of a limousine with chauffeur. Standard taxi charges are can range between AUD$20 to $40, dependent upon the distance travelled.
Payment for accommodation is your responsibility.
Am I eligible for this service if I have been studying at another educational institution in Australia?
Yes, you are eligible for this service. However, you must be a commencing University of South Australia international student to be eligible for this service.
No. This service is provided to assist the settling-in process for students new to UniSA.
The On Arrival Reception driver will take you from the airport to the Unilodge Office for you to complete your bond and get your key. The office staff will then help you book a taxi to your accommodation. You will need to pay for this taxi yourself. You can be reimbursed by the University for this cost up to AUD$30.00. Please make sure you have sufficient Australian currency or a credit card to pay for this taxi. When it is convenient for you, you can bring the receipt to the Learning and Teaching Unit Office on your home campus to claim reimbursement.
