Welcome Areas
UniSA Buddies (U-Buddies who are students already studying at UniSA) will be available in Welcome Areas to provide you with:

Tuesday 10 July - sessions at City West campus to include:

The day will begin at 9.00am. You can approach a U-Buddy in the Welcome Area at City West (The Atrium, Ground level, Yungondi Building) to find out about which sessions you need to go to and what you can expect from attending individual sessions and workshops.

Accommodation and your rights
This workshop will offer practical advice from staff & students about:

Students who are renting (or are planning to rent) accommodation are strongly encouraged to attend. There will also be a lucky draw $100 Unibooks vouchers to be won!

Studying at UniSA: Your rights and responsibilities
You will get to meet trained Advocates from UniLife who will share information and advice on your rights and responsibilities as a student at UniSA.

Safety in Adelaide
Do you know what to do if you have a late night class and need to get home?  Do you know who to call if you are in an emergency on and off campus? The South Australian Police and UniSA Campus Security share important information, tips and strategies about keeping yourself and your personal property safe in this interactive session.

Safe Activities in the City for Students
There is more to Adelaide than the 'city of Churches'. Adelaide is compact, green and very accessible with loads of interesting things to see and do. Come to an interactive presentation by the Adelaide City Council and find out information on community centres, libraries, city bikes, volunteering, sports/recreation and the many treasures of the City of Adelaide.

Welcome to Australia
This interactive workshop will describe how to get along in Australia.  The session will include information about transition to a new culture and study environment and culturally appropriate ways of interacting with staff and students at University.

BBQ lunch and social activity
Come and join in the fun at a free BBQ lunch followed social activities. You will be able to meet and get to know staff and fellow students. Representatives from UnliLife, UniSA's independent students association will be present for you to meet and there will be opportunities for interaction and games with a basketball ring and Xbox.

International sponsored student briefing
 
If your tuition fees are sponsored by an external agency, the Australian government or your home country's government, then you should come to this session. You will be able to meet with the staff from UniSA International who liaise with your sponsors and learn about the requirements of your scholarship.

Information session for Higher Degree Research (HDR) Students
Are you studying for a Doctorate or Masters degree by research? If so, this session is for you.  You will meet other research degree students and find out about the services and support you can get at UniSA to help you be a successful student.

Health and Wellbeing: Safe Sex Issues and SHineSA Services
Optional session facilitated by Sexual Health Information Networking & Education SA staff on safe sex and SHineSA services. Come along to this session if you want to find out more about safe sex and healthy relationships, which will be presented separately for male and female students. For those of you who have received sex education you will be able to find out more about a range of health services in Adelaide.

Enrolment assistance (repeat)
U-Buddies (students already studying at UniSA) and Campus Central staff will be available to assist new students to enrol online and finalise timetables.

Wednesday 11 July - All students to commence sessions at Magill campus

Travel from City West to Magill campus
Meet at 9.00am outside the front of Yungondi Building, City West campus on North Terrace to board Explorer coaches from 9.10am to transport you to Magill campus for an afternoon of interactive workshops and activities.  Alternatively, you can make your way to Magill campus and meet other new students at 9.30am in Room H1-44, H Building for the 'Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Worldcare information session.

Part-Time Jobs and Money Matters - tips and strategies
This workshop outlines successful strategies for targeting part time employment in SA.  You will gain a clear understanding of the important steps underpinning what is required to fit into a working environment and the support services available to assist you.  You will also gain insight into realistic budgeting and banking practices, as well as identifying potential traps and pitfalls.

Key experts include: Career Advisers and International Student Officers.

Get Connected
This fun and interactive session will help you meet other students and create new social networks at UniSA.  It includes a panel of senior students sharing their experiences, tips and answering your questions.

Free Lunch and Information providers
A free lunch will be hosted by the Learning and Teaching Unit. A multicultural lunch will be provided by Mekong Thai which will include halal and vegetarian options.  You will also have a chance to visit information providers, ask questions and gather information about long-term accommodation, banking, travel and emergency services in Adelaide.

Optional activities in the Magill Sports Centre and Swimming pool
After lunch, you will be able to participate in optional activities including soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and billiards.  You will also have an opportunity to meet U-Buddies (senior students already studying at UniSA), UniLife representatives and other new international students to make some connections.

Remember to wear comfortable, sporting or casual clothing (including sneakers) to partake in activities in the Magill gymnasium.

Thursday 12 July - Bus tour to Adelaide Hills (Cleland Wildlife Park - includes Mount Lofty lookout)

Experience one of South Australia's most successful wildlife attractions offering a unique opportunity for interaction with a range of fauna. This tour departs at 9.15am sharp, from the front entrance to (City West Campus) and returns to the City at 3.15pm. Bookings are essential.  Itinerary, payment and booking details will be available from the Welcome Areas on Monday 9th July.  Tickets cost $15.00 and will be available from Campus Central at City West from Tuesday 10 July.
