Changing your address
While you are in Australia, the university and other agencies such as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and your health insurance provider will need to contact you. It is important that they are able to maintain an accurate and current record of your address. This information site answers some of the questions you may have in relation to recording and changing your address.

I am living in temporary accommodation. What should I put down as my address at the time of enrolment?
You should use the address of your temporary accommodation for your “Address during Semester”. You should change this after you have found long-term accommodation.
What should I do once I have long-term accommodation?
You are obliged as a condition of your student visa to notify the university of any change of address within seven (7) days. You should go to Campus Central and complete a Change of Personal Details form or you can make the changes online via myUniSA.
You should also notify other agencies and people who have your contact details. These may include the following:
- Health Insurance Provider
- Gas company
- Electricity company
- Phone company
- Bank
- Family and friends
How do I notify agencies other than the university of a change of address?
It is your responsibility to notify all organisations of your change of address either in writing or by telephone. A free change of address or “Mover’s Kit” is available from Australia Post. The “Change of Address - Movers Kit” is essentially a brochure detailing services provided by Australia Post. It contains:
- A mover’s checklist
- ‘Change of Address’ request form
- Advice on connecting/disconnecting to services
- Information about moving with children
- Safety tips for moving house
- Helpful packing tips
You should complete the ‘Change of Address’ request form and lodge it at any Australia Post outlet. You will be asked for proof of personal identity. Australia Post will not accept a student ID as proof of personal identity. Your passport or drivers license is the preferred form of proof of identity.
For a fee, Australia Post will then redirect your mail. Redirection of mail operates on a sliding scale fee basis. For example, if you wish to redirect your mail for 1 month you will need to pay a fee of $11.50. Organising a redirection of your mail for 3 months will cost $24 and, for 6 months it will cost $35.50. For more information please contact Australia Post.
In addition, and at no extra cost, Australia Post provides an address notification service. They provide you with a list of companies and, if you are a customer of any of the companies on the list, you simply tick the relevant boxes and Australia Post will tell them of your change of address

What is the difference between “Home Address” and “Mailing Address”?
The “Mailing Address” is where you live while you are studying in Adelaide. Your “Home Address” is your address in your home country.
How do I let the University know where to send my end of year results?
The University will post your end of year results to your “Mailing Address” only. If you wish to have your results posted to a different address, you must change your “Mailing Address via myUniSA prior to your departure.
If you return to Australia to continue studies the following year, you will need to change your “Mailing Address” back to the address you are staying at whilst in Australia when you return.
If you have any problems, please contact Campus Central on your home campus for assistance.
