Why do some web pages not display properly in Internet Explorer?

If you are accessing the internet through the University network and the web pages do not display properly in Internet Explorer 7 or 8 you need to ensure the "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" option is selected.

In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" - "Internet Options"

Click on the "Advanced" tab and scroll down to "HTTP 1.1 settings"

  1. Ensure a tick is in "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections"
  2. Click OK.
