Configuring Internet Browsers to use a Proxy
The UniSA network can automatically provide the required proxy settings to your web browser when you connect to the network. This provides greater convenience for users who also connect to other networks removing the need to reconfigure proxy settings when changing from one network to another.
Internet Explorer settings for automatic proxy configuration and manual proxy configuration are detailed below.
Please note: automatic proxy settings only apply to web browser connections. Users wishing to use other services e.g. Skype, will still need to manually configure their proxy settings.
Automatic Proxy Settings
The following instructions show how to configure Internet Explorer to automatically detect proxy server settings:
- Click on Tools on the menu bar
- Select Internet Options
- Click the Connections tab
- Click LAN settings
- Select "Automatic detect settings" and click OK
- Click OK on the Internet Options

Manual Proxy Setting
The following instructions show how to configure manual proxy server settings for:
- Click on Tools on the menu bar
- Select Internet Options
- Click the Connections tab
- Click on LAN settings
- Under Proxy server
- Select Use a proxy server for this connection
- Type www-proxy.unisa.edu.au for the Address and 8080 for Port
- Select Bypass proxy server for local addresses
- Click the Advanced tab

- Select Use the same proxy server for all protocols
- Under Exceptions type in *.unisa.edu.au;130.220.* and click OK
- Click OK on the Internet Options as well
