Research Institutes
Barbara Hardy Institute (BHI)
The Barbara Hardy Institute brings together world-leading researchers to work in multidisciplinary teams on real-world issues. Our research is focused on the sustainability of our society.
Defence and Systems Institute (DASI)
In January 2007 the University of South Australia created a new Defence and Systems Institute (DASI) at Mawson Lakes campus. DASI aims to become a world leader in research and education in complex systems.
Mawson Institute (MI)
Collaborating with leading researchers in science, engineering, information technology and manufacturing, the Mawson Institute addresses opportunities and future challenges facing Australia. Our focus is on the basic science and engineering that underpins 'next generation' manufacturing, providing new technologies based upon new knowledge and innovation that can be integrated into products or processes. Scientists and engineers will work in parallel, rather than sequentially, on concept and commercialisation, significantly reducing the time and steps for new product development.
Research Centres
Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC)
Advanced Computing Research Centre focus on computer science, software engineering and computer engineering.
Centre for Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation (CERAR)
Centre for Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation is the only research Centre of this kind in the Australasian region focussing specifically on both 'Environmental Risk Assessment' and 'Remediation'.
Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre (PBRC)
The Phenomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre (PBRC) is a joint venture between the Australian Centre for Plant Functional
Genomics (ACPFG) and the University of South Australia through the
School of Mathematics and Statistics.
One of the primary undertakings of the Centre is its research in biomathematics, biostatistics and bioinformatics to support the biological research being undertaken by ACPFG researchers in their quest for abiotic stress tolerant cereal plants. Current questions that are being addressed fall into the three main categories of Phenomics and Plant Image Analysis, Phenomics
and Biometrics (Experimental Design and Statistical Analysis), Mathematical and
Computational Biology.
SA Water Centre for Water Management and Reuse
SA Water Centre for Water Management and Reuse has significant expertise in water research, consultancy and strong links with local and international water industry and a strong focus on water research.

The
The University of South Australia (UniSA), in conjunction with Stratsec, is seeking elite academics, students and independent researchers to take part in the Stratsec / UniSA Winter School.
