Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF)

ANFF logoANFF-SA is the South Australian node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF), which links 7 university-based nodes around Australia. The ANFF provides both researchers and industry with access to state-of-the-art fabrication facilities.

The ANFF-SA facility is located at the world renowned Ian Wark Research Institute (The Wark) and is focused on the design and fabrication of microfluidic chips and micro engineered structures which are tailored to the needs of the client. Precise tailoring of microchannel surface chemistry and the latest fabrication tools which are available at ANFF-SA, facilitate the production of next-generation microfluidic devices with enhanced performance.

The node provides access to three main capabilities:

  1. Microfluidic Fabrication Facility for prototyping and replication of channels and networks at the micro-scale. The facility comprises a dedicated clean room equipped for surface preparation and cleaning, micrometre scale photolithography, etching, surface characterisation and evaluation.
  2. Surface Treatment Facility for chemical and physical surface functionalisation to tailor microfluidic devices and various other surfaces for end user applications.
  3. Patterning and Texturing Facility for various substrate materials. The facility is able to couple lithographic and direct write techniques depending on end user applications.
