General Project Information
Why is the
learnonline platform necessary?
UniSA is one of the few universities in Australia that is continuing to
operate an in-house developed online teaching and learning environment.
While this was a reasonable strategy in 1999 when UniSAnet was first
developed, the pace of changes in teaching and learning technologies means
that despite two major updates, UniSAnet now lacks the reliability,
flexibility and core functionality needed to support the online learning
technologies and services envisaged in UniSA's new teaching and learning
framework.
How are courses for each stage of implementation being decided?
Within each stage of the project each Division is responsible for
identifying courses for conversion so that they can be delivered by the
learnonline platform. A set of principles that provide guidance for the
course nomination decision making process have been developed.
What are the key components that will be available in the learnonline
platform?
The learnonline platform will include:
- The Moodle Learning Management System
- A Virtual Classroom Tool
- An ePortfolio Tool
- Copyright Monitoring and Reporting Tools
- An Anti-Plagiarism Tool
Each of the tools within the learnonline platform will adhere to the University's Accessibility requirements and guidelines
Information for Staff
Where do I place my additional learning materials or project information now
that UniSAnet has gone?
For information on providing additional materials, learning resources or
project information, please see our
Non Course
information page.
Will there be any training for staff in the learnonline system?
Significant resources have been provided to ensure that all staff receive
the requisite training to ensure they are competent and confident with
developing and delivering courses on the learnonline platform.
Training will be available from face to face workshops, online
interactive resources and on-call guidance and support.
Face to face workshops will be provided on every campus for each stage of
the learnonline project.
Is
the HELP information the same for both Students and Staff?
Help resources within learnonline have been tailored to meet the specific
requirements of Staff and Students. Your login, as either a University staff
member or student will determine which Help resources you will see.
You can access the learnonline Staff Help resources by clicking on this link.
What
is the usability of learnonline compared to UniSAnet?
The learnonline system is a very intuitive and user friendly system.
Will learnonline run on my Mac?
As the learnonline platform uses web-based components many of these will
work with a Mac if you use a compatible web-browser. If you are viewing or
editing course material using a Mac you must use Firefox browser.
Does the calendar in learnonline sync with my Outlook calendar?
Currently the learnonline calendar will not sync with your Outlook calendar.
The learnonline project team will investigate this issue to determine if
this functionality could be provided in the future.
How are students going to be trained or inducted into the new system?
There are online help resources available to students within learnonline
which provide a training and support for students. Campus Central will also
provide guidance to students on how to access the resources and support
information.
learnonline information will also be integrated into existing and future LTU online resources available to students and also within LTU activities targeted at new University students.
