Congratulations to Prof Chris Daniels, Philip Roetman and Masters
Student Emma Vasey, who have received the Chancellors Award for
Community Engagement for Operation Bluetongue. The community-based
research project ran between September and December 2007 and was
conducted with the support of 891 ABC Radio.
Operation Bluetongue focused on the six bluetongue lizard species found
in South Australia and studied the views and attitudes of the public
toward these lizards and backyard wildlife in general. School students
and the general public were invited to participate through completing a
public survey and contributing stories and photos.
Visit the Barbara Hardy Centre for Sustainable Urban Environments
website for more information about
Operation Bluetongue.

brakes on carbon emissions’ and was instrumental in gaining an
understanding of travel habits and trends amongst residents, workers and
visitors.
The following data was collected during the event by a survey conducted
by volunteers:
Congratulations to Janine Slocombe and volunteers on representing the School of NBE in UniSA’s participation in this community-based initiative.
