Operation Possum

Portrait of Bluebell

What do you think of Possums?

Do you see them in your garden?

Have you got a story about possums to share?

Operation Possum is a large-scale community based study of possums in South Australia. We want to find out where possums are, how people manage possums that live close to them, and what people think of them?

Let us know your thoughts on possums by completing the Operation Possum online survey. You don’t need to have seen a possum to join in. In fact, we’d really like more responses from people who haven’t seen possums! That will help us work out where possums are (or aren’t), and what drives people to love or loathe these animals.

This study is being conducted by researchers from UniSA’s School of Natural and Built Environments in conjunction with 891 ABC Adelaide radio.

So far, the response to this project has been exceptional and over 1,400 people have completed the survey. We’re learning that most people like possums and like to see them around their houses, but for some people possums are a serious problem. If you require further information please contact Philip Roetman from UniSA.
