New portal to student success at UniSA
Students at the University of South Australia will have an easier time managing their studies this year with the introduction of a new online student portal called myUniSA.
myUniSA gives students access to information such as their email, results, timetables, enrolment details, library loans, internet and print quotas and financial status from the convenience of one location.
The system was developed over a period of six months and has streamlined the process of information access for students who previously were required to seek out separate information areas.
myUniSA also means no matter where students are – on campus, at home, on holidays or offshore – they can access all their vital data via the internet from anywhere in the world.
The launch of myUniSA is one more example of the University’s ongoing commitment to making life for its students easier, by providing a world-class electronic environment that uses the latest technology and infrastructure. The initiative follows on from the introduction of online enrolment in 2001 making UniSA one of the first Australian universities to provide a successful online enrolment system for its students.
One of the technical leaders of the myUniSA portal design team, Richard Lamb, says the system was implemented after consultation, feedback and testing by thousands of students.
“Before myUniSA was officially launched it was tested by groups of students and their comments and feedback led to further improvements of the portal,” Lamb said.
“That student feedback combined with the latest software and technology available has led to what we believe is a state of the art product.”
And to date, student comment suggests myUniSA has vastly improved the integration of online student information. Feedback has been extremely positive with most students applauding the innovation and in particular the accessibility, convenience and time saving aspects of the portal. Further enhancements of myUniSA will be launched mid-year.
