The Body Shop and UniSA uncover what we think about violence in relationships

The Body Shop and UniSA have joined forces to find out more about people’s attitudes to relationship abuse.

A national community survey, being run from July 24 to August 13, aims to find out more about people’s views on what constitutes abuse in a relationship – how they define that behaviour and what they believe are the causes.

The survey will be available from all Body Shop stores in Australia.

There is also a web version for those wanting to take part in the survey online.

The Body Shop’s support for the survey builds on its invaluable international campaign work on protecting women and children from domestic violence and encouraging respectful relationships.

Lead researcher at UniSA Dr Donna Chung says the survey will paint an important picture of Australians’attitudes to issues surrounding abusive relationships.

“The research will help us to develop education and support information that is effective in the community,” Dr Chung said

“We need to understand more clearly what people think is violent or abusive behaviour and why people think it occurs. Then we can form better ways to combat this damaging social problem.”
