OHSW & IM Induction and Training
OHSW & IM Services coordinates the provision of a range of Health Safety Welfare and Injury Management learning and development (L&D) short courses across the University. Individual Schools, Units, Centres and Institutes may also arrange training to suit local requirements.
This site provides detailed information about available L & D courses, facilitated either internally or externally and their method of delivery i.e. online or face to face.

INDUCTION
All new and transferred employees including casual employees who are required to work on campus shall undergo an OHSW induction which is to be conducted by local areas and signed off by the relevant supervisors with records kept locally. This induction must occur as soon as possible on commencement and be completed within the first week of employment. Please refer to the documents below for more details
TRAINING
Training courses are divided into three categories:
Generic Training: Related to general responsibilities as employees of the University. Coordinated by OHSW&IM Services and delivered either online or face-to-face.
Risk Specific Training: Related to identified areas of health and safety risk. Coordinated by OHSW&IM Services and delivered either online or face-to-face.
Task Specific Training: Related to particular jobs/tasks in defined areas of the University. Coordinated by local areas and delivered in a face-to-face environment.

Task Specific Training
Related to particular jobs / tasks in defined areas of the University. Delivery is face to face and coordinated by local areas. Select courses relevant to your role.

Individual Job Safety & Environmental Analyses
What about Sessional / Casual Employees ?
Casual employees who are expected to work on campus at any time are required, as a minimum, to complete a local area OHSW induction and any other relevant local task specific training relevant to the work being performed.
Casual employees are not required to complete any online training courses.
Casual employees who are not required to work on campus should refer to the relevant Quick Guides for OHSW&IM information.
Course Costs
All costs incurred for employees undertaking the generic learning programs and some risk specific will be funded by the Human Resources Unit through OHSW & IM Services. Other courses may incur a cost. Please refer to individual course information for further details.
Training Records Management
All generic training records are maintained within the HR Management System.
All online risk specific training records are maintained within the HR Management System.
For all face to face risk specific training conducted by OHSW&IM Services, training records are maintained within the HR Management System.
For all face to face risk specific training conducted by external training providers and task specific training, records shall be maintained by local areas.

Available OHSW & IM Training Courses
UniSA Online OHSW & IM Learning Programs
OHSW & IM online learning programs covering a range of relevant topics are available as a learning tool for all University employees. It is a mandatory requirement that all new employees and fixed term contract employees complete the online learning course: Health and Safety Fundamentals. Other on-line modules can be completed if relevant to your role. There is no requirement to repeat online modules unless there is a need to do so because of an identified learning gap
Employees can automatically login to the Online Learning (actual URL https://my.unisa.edu.au/Public/SingleSignOn/GenerateURL.aspx?app=e3Learning ). Use your university username and your own personal password to access the learning portal.
You will need to obtain a quiz score of 80% or more to pass a course. You can print a certificate as a record of our achievement.
Students may participate in online learning courses however, require an account to be created. Contact OHSW & IM Services on 21634 to arrange for an account to be created. Students will then be able to access Online Learning using the above link.
