A web-based Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database and chemical management system

Chemgold3 (or Chemgold III) has been endorsed by senior management as the chemical management software to be adopted university-wide for accessing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and maintaining chemical store manifests. The University has a contract with Chemwatch for online access to Chemgold3 (CG3).

All UniSA staff and students have access to Chemgold3 via the Staff portal and the Student portal. Students have access to ChemFFX, a simplified 'skin' of ChemGold IIl giving full access to the MSDS database.

Chemgold3 can be used to access:

General user access gives full use of the MSDS and Labelling features.

A training handout contains a flowchart showing how the use of Chemgold3 links with the steps in the safe management of hazardous chemicals.

The setting up or deletion of chemical stores is administered by members of the CG3 super user group (see list below).  Staff wishing to read or write the contents of a chemical store manifest will need to obtain a password through their super user. In most instances you will be asked to provide an email authorisation from a person with responsibility in your area such as your supervisor, the head of the research group, or school business manager.

Chemwatch Help

Chemgold III is supplied by an external provider, Chemwatch.  If you require help with the use of Chemgold III please contact Chemwatch, not the UniSA Helpdesk.

You have several choices for obtaining help from Chemwatch by clicking on the following icons in Chemgold3:

Download the Chemgold3 or ChemFFX user guide
Download instructions on using the various Chemgold III Modules
Chat with the Chemwatch live support help desk
Email the Chemwatch helpdesk at helpdesk@chemwatch.net

Step by Step Easyguides are available showing how to create and maintain manifests and produce labels.

Other sources of help: CG3 super users

Further help can be obtained through your local CG3 super user.

If you want to read or write to a store manifest you will need to contact your super user to obtain a password for the relevant store(s). In most instances you will be asked to provide an email authorisation from a person with responsibility in your area such as your supervisor, the head of the research group, or school business manager.

Students accessing ChemGold3 should ensure that their safe use of chemicals is under the oversight of a UniSA academic or professional staff member, e.g. their research or course supervisor.

For further information on ChemGold3 please contact OHSW & IM Services on 830 22703.

Training

Visit OHSW Training Courses to find approaching training workshops on chemical safety and Chemgold3 and register online.

Extra Chemgold3 training sessions can be run for your School or Research Institute by arrangement with OHSW&IM Services.

Schools or Research Institutes can also arrange their own in-house training including training delivered by Chemwatch trainers.  Chemwatch training costs are the responsibility of the local Cost Centre.
