Planning and Analysis
Review and planning at the University of South Australia comprises a
range of cyclical processes that communicate and coordinate strategic
activities across the University to achieve the aspirations outlined in
Horizon 2020.
Review and Planning includes:
- scanning the changing external environment to identify opportunities and threats
- evaluating and reflecting on performance in key areas, with the aim of continuous improvement and innovation
- establishing priorities as a focus for activity across the University
- aligning our resources - people, services, finance and infrastructure - to our priorities
- coordinating the University's response to AUQA
- supporting UniSA program quality assurance (A35A) (staff only)
- providing input into Government discussion papers and reporting.

PIP’s role in analysis and evaluation includes:
- analysis of international university rankings
- statistical analysis of admissions data including competitor analysis
- providing advice and recommendations to inform the University's competitive position
- data analysis and institutional research to support the University's evaluation framework
- providing advice on survey instrumentation and administration
- providing access to UniSA and national evaluation data
- conducting corporate surveys, including:
- the Federal government's University Experience Survey pilot - the instrument that will be included in Mission-Based Compacts from 2013
- the Australian Graduate Survey (AGS), which incorporates the Graduate Destination Survey (GDS), the Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) and the Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (PREQ). The AGS is sent to all recent graduates and is a national benchmarking activity of Graduate Careers Australia (GCA)
- the Transnational Graduate Survey, which is the offshore equivalent of the AGS
- the Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE), developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER)
- the Transnational Student Experiences Questionnaire (TSEQ), first conducted in 2005 and repeated biennially. The survey involves transnational (offshore) students studying in English and Mandarin
- the Beyond Graduation Survey, administered through GCA to capture graduate outcomes three to four years after completion. The BGS Code of Practice is available here
- the International Student Barometer (I-Barometer), administered to international students.
