The best years of my life

Eng Whui PohI was always interested in the medical side of things. When I spoke to a pharmacist about hospital pharmacy at a careers night in Year 12,  I liked the sound of it and decided there and then that was what I wanted to do.

I really enjoy what I do in my job. I like the interaction with patients and educating them about the best way to take their medication.

UniSA's Bachelor of Pharmacy involves a lot of lab work and is heavily chemistry based. The program gave me a solid understanding of the theory behind pharmacy and the seven weeks of clinical placements and one-year post graduation internship gave me the practical experience to move into the workforce.

The UniSA teaching staff were supportive. Whenever I had a problem I could knock on their door and they were always happy to help. Some of them were practising pharmacists.

After gaining a bit more experience as a clinical pharmacist, I might do a Masters of Clinical Pharmacy.

I came to Australia from Malaysia in 1996 to do Year 11, studied at UniSA as an international student and just last year got my permanent residency. I chose Adelaide because it's more affordable than the eastern states, the standard of living is good and it's a nice place to live and study. The years I've spent at UniSA have definitely been some of the best of my life!
