Distinguished Researcher Award
The Distinguished Researcher Award is one component of the International Research Collaboration Support Program. This program aims to establish new and strengthen existing research collaborations with international research institutions and researchers of high distinction. This program is an internal funding opportunity.
The Distinguished Researcher Award aims to attract outstanding international researchers to UniSA to establish new or strengthen existing research collaborations (UniSA Distinguished Researcher Award).

Aim
To support distinguished international researchers to visit UniSA to establish or strengthen research collaborations likely to lead to high profile research outcomes.
Number of awards
Up to 4 grants (to a maximum value of $20,000 per grant) per annum.
Duration of visit
Visits by international researchers to UniSA must be for periods greater than 3 weeks.
Eligibility criteria
International visiting researchers will:
- have outstanding research track records in their respective fields; and
- work in research areas of strategic importance to UniSA.
Please note: Nominations supported by a director of a University-supported institute or centre will be given priority.
Conditions of Grant
The international visiting researcher will be expected to engage in all of the following activities:
- Develop or expand a collaborative research program with UniSA researchers (including developing joint research grants, writing joint publications etc);
- Conduct a research Master Class for HDR Students and Early Career Researchers within the discipline; and
- Present at least one discipline-based research seminar and a public lecture.
A final report outlining the key outcomes of the visit and a full financial acquittal must be submitted by the nominating area within four weeks after the departure of the international researcher. Any unspent funds must be returned to RIS.
Budget items supported
Funds may only be used for approved travel and accommodation costs for the international researcher. All other costs including those associated with the research component of the visit must be supported by other contributions. Applications should indicate in the Expression of Interest (EOI) how the funds are likely to be spent. Under no circumstances will the funds be permitted for salary supplementation, teaching relief etc.

Assessment process
EOIs will be assessed by a subgroup of Research Policy Committee within two weeks of the application deadlines above.
Reporting templates
This report is to be submitted to Research and Innovation Services four weeks after return from the international travel.
