Review Outcomes

Both you (and your supervisor, if you are a student) will be notified via email of the UniSA HREC's decision within 10 working days of the application being submitted to them by the ECO (Ethics Compliance Officer).

If your ethics application is 'approved', you may begin your research project.

If your ethics application is 'approved subject to' certain conditions, you will need to make the the required changes and then submit your amended application to the review committee for consideration. Ethics approval must be finalised before you begin your research.

If your ethics application is 'not approved' and you are invited to resubmit you will need to do so in accordance with the review committee's feedback. Research may only commence when ethics approval has been granted.

'Exempt' and 'Negligible Risk' research

If you believe your research may fall within the 'Exempt' or 'Negligible' Risk Categories, you should still create an ethics application in the online system.

The system will automatically assess the risk level of your research based on your responses to the 'Project Scope' questions at the beginning of the form.

If your application is assessed as 'Exempt' or 'Negligible', the form will be automatically shortened.

When you submit, you will be notified via email that your application has been assessed as 'Exempt' or 'Negligible' and further ethics review is not required.

You are free to commence your data collection upon receipt of this email.
