The
Olga
Tennison Autism Research Centre is offering a competitive PhD
research scholarship to be awarded to the best candidate-supervisor
team with an innovative research proposal in the area of autism.
One full-time PhD Scholarship is available which will provide a yearly stipend of approximately $21,000 per annum for a period of three years to be undertaken anywhere in Australia.
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents. The successful applicant will need a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) or a Masters degree (research or coursework) including 'a dissertation demonstrating the ability to undertake research at doctoral level'. Award of the scholarship will be contingent on the applicant meeting criteria for acceptance at the institution in which they plan to enroll. The application must be supported by the supervisor of the research project.
Projects can be undertaken in any area of autism research where the candidate and the supervisor are appropriately qualified. Applicants should provide a Research Proposal (maximum of 2 pages in no less than 12 pt font size). The expectation is that students enrolled for the PhD degree will submit a thesis for examination at the end of the third year. The PhD degree is awarded for completion of a program of research that results in an original and significant contribution to knowledge.
Before lodging a formal application form, applicants should discuss their plans for candidature with their supervisor. A letter of support from the supervisor is to be included with the application. The supervisor is also required to provide a brief CV including publications and research grants within the past 5 years.
