Northern Business Research Partnerships Initiative
Recently, the Innovation Economic Opportunies Group (IEOG) [a joint venture between Delfin Lend Lease, SA Land Management Corporation, City of Salisbury and UniSA formed in the late 1990s to encourage innovative collaborations and research of strategic and commercial benefit to the northern region] awarded $225,000 to UniSA to develop and manage a new collaborative research and postgraduate placement program aimed at stimulating innovation and economic development in Northern Adelaide.
Projects focus on priority questions raised by business and industry, and strategic postgraduate placements will be established to help provide the high levels skills required by industry to sustain a competitive advantage. This program will ensure UniSA's active contribution to producing tangible, long-term benefits to business and industry in the Adelaide's northern region and beyond.
It is proposed that over the next two years, the project will deliver:
- collaboratively developed, strategically focused and financially leveraged research projects (minimum of 5; up to $10k + $10k matching industry grant per project)
- innovative postgraduate placements (at Honours, Masters and/or Doctoral level) to produce UniSA graduates with high level skills and industry insights (minimum of 10; up to $5k + $5k matching industry grant per placement)
- opportunities for industry and researcher cohorts to exchange perspectives on research and innovation needs and opportunities.
The Northern Business Research Partnerships will be managed by the UniSA Research and Innovation Cluster Directorate which is highly regarded for its ability to build multidisciplinary and cross-sector research teams focused on delivering results of mutual value. It is well positioned to develop and deliver the Northern Business Research Partnerships program and is strategically co-located in Innovation House, Technology Park, with Innovate SA, Salisbury Business Economic Centre and other key Mawson Innovation Precinct stakeholders, close to Enterprise Connect.
