    In a highly anticipated event the Samstag Museum of Art, in association with the 2012 Adelaide Festival and supported by the Art Gallery of South Australia, present Australia's best-known contemporary photographer, Bill Henson, in conversation with Paul Grabowsky, Artistic Director of the 2012 Adelaide Festival. The Samstag Museum is delighted to host this special highlight to accompany the first exhibition in Adelaide dedicated to one of the country's most distinguished artists. The Museum will be open for ticket holders to view Bill Henson: early work from the MGA collection, with selected recent landscapes after hours, with refreshments and live music to follow the discussion.

  • Your Move: Australian artists play chess
    Chess tournament
    Sunday 6 November
    2-5pm 
    Come and make a move in a chess tournament organised by The Adelaide Chess Club. Turn up on the day for an opportunity to watch Chess Club members do battle and even challenge them to a 5 or 15 minute game. The public are invited to play, ask questions and enjoy the exhibition. Special prizes for participants. Free admission, all welcome.

  • Your Move: Australian artists play chess

    Bendigo Art Gallery curator Sandra Bruce presents an introductory talk on the exhibition Your Move: Australian artists play chess, to coincide with the launch of both exhibitions Your Move and Bill Henson: early work from the MGA Collection, with selected recent landscapes. At this event there is an opportunity to watch members of the Adelaide Chess Club do battle and even challenge them to a game of chess.

    Join curator Tugi Balog and Richard Perram, Director of Bathurst Regional Art Gallery with May Lane artists Dlux! and Mini Graff as they discuss the history of the May Lane project and give insight into the significance of street art in contemporary Australian culture. 
    This will be followed by drinks and special entertainment to coincide with the launch of both  exhibitions May's and Hijacked 2: Australia/ Germany

    Presented in association with the The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre at UniSA.
    Join Margaret Pomeranz (Chair) with actors Rosalie Kunoth-Monks and Tom E Lewis and film directors Beck Cole (writer/director Here I Am) and Rolf de Heer as they discuss the rapidly changing identity of Indigenous Australians in our national cinema.
