Commonwealth Scholarships
The
Commonwealth Scholarships program aims to facilitate choice in higher
education and to increase participation by students from low socio-economic
backgrounds, particularly indigenous students and students from rural and
regional areas.
Changes to the Commonwealth Scholarships
The Commonwealth Government has replaced the existing Commonwealth
Scholarships scheme since 2010, with two new scholarships - the Student Start Up
Scholarship and the Relocation Scholarship. These two new
scholarships are administered by Centrelink and paid to students
in higher education to assist with the costs of studying and living away
from home. Students don't need to apply for these scholarships - they will
be paid directly to eligible Centrelink customers.
For further information on the changes to income support for students and
the Start Up and Relocation Scholarships, refer to the
Centrelink website.
For students (continuing recipients) who are currently in receipt of a
Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship or a Commonwealth Accommodation
Scholarship, allowance payments will continue to be administered by the
University. For details, click here.
