Aborigines Advancement League Grant (Full Time)

Study Grants are available for Australian Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students of the University of South Australia and Flinders University who are enrolled full- time in a postgraduate or Medical degree and are permanent residents of South Australia. Recipients will be determined by the Selection Committee of the Aboriginal Advancement League based upon both grade point average and economic need of the student. The grants will be offered for the life of the recipient's program, for a maximum of two years for full-time students. The number of grants awarded each year is dependent on the income generated by the Aboriginal Advancement League Fund.

Value: $5,000 per annum to a maximum of $10,000

Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship (sponsored by the Department for Water)

The Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship (sponsored by the Department for Water) is open to Indigenous students who are enrolled full-time in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate program at UniSA.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a personal written statement outlining the applicant's career goals and community involvement and applicants who can demonstrate financial disadvantage and/or academic merit will be considered favourably.

Preference will be given to applicants undertaking studies in the following areas: Environmental Management and Sustainability; Project Management; Commerce or Management.

The recipient will be offered six hours of informal mentoring or in-kind assistance by the Department for Water. The recipient will also be given the opportunity to network and build relationships with the Department staff by attending two functions, and they must have the ability to be a positive ambassador for the Department.

Please note that previous recipients of any Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship are not eligible to apply for other Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarships.

Value: $5,000. Payment will be made in two instalments of $2,500 after the Study Period 2 and Study Period 5 census dates.

Kym Adey Catherine House-UniSA Scholarship

The Kym Adey Catherine House-UniSA Scholarship has been established to support women from Catherine House to undertake further education at UniSA or UniSA College.

Catherine House provides supported accommodation and emergency housing to women over 21, unaccompanied by children, who are affected by homelessness. Emeritus Professor Kym Adey has had a long and distinguished career in higher education and was a former Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President at UniSA.

Applicants must be: participants of the Sagarmartha Education and Employment Program at Catherine House for a period longer than six months in the past three years. Applicants must provide a personal written statement detailing any previous study and their anticipated benefits of undertaking further education at UniSA or UniSA College.

Recipients will be selected on the basis of a personal written statement and an interview. Recipients will be required to provide peer support to other clients of Catherine House.

Value: Up to $10,000 which is apportioned over the life of an agreed program of study. Recipients who apply for the scholarship and are part way through a program will receive a maximum of $3,333 per year for the duration of their program.

UniSA Student Exchange Travel Grants

The University of South Australia is committed to providing opportunities for students to gain an international perspective by participating in student exchange. Studying on exchange can be an enriching cultural and academic experience and one that benefits you throughout your life. UniSA has more than 60 exchange partners throughout the world in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

All UniSA students who are accepted into the exchange program are eligible for a travel grant. While on student exchange, you remain enrolled at the University of South Australia and continue to pay your normal UniSA fees. You do not pay tuition fees to the host institution. For students that are eligible, Austudy/Abstudy/Youth Allowance payments continue to be paid while overseas on student exchange. You will also receive credit for the courses you take on student exchange, meaning that you will still be able to complete your degree on time.

Value: $800 to $2,400 (dependent on selected country)

Zero Waste SA Pam Keating Memorial Scholarship

The Zero Waste SA Pam Keating Memorial Scholarship has been established in memory of Pam Keating, a noted environmentalist and waste management expert, who passionately believed in the importance of reducing waste and its impact on our environment, and was committed to education and training for sustainability. The scholarship is available to full-time students undertaking an Honours or Masters program in an area of interest to the Zero Waste SA Research Centre. These areas include: - behaviour change - measuring consumption and ecological footprints - resource efficiency and life cycle measurement - decision making. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit (Grade Point Average) and an interview. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and provide a two page written statement with their application outlining: - the research to be undertaken in their research topic - career goals and future plans - and how the scholarship will help achieve their ambitions. A project summary from the applicant's supervisor containing a detailed description of the project and its outcomes should also be included with the application.

The recipient must have the ability to be a positive ambassador for the objectives of Zero Waste SA. They will be offered six hours of informal mentoring or in-kind assistance by Zero Waste SA and may also have the opportunity to undertake paid employment at Zero Waste SA during the summer vacation period.

Value: $10,000 to be paid in two instalments of $5,000 after the study period 2 and study period 5 census dates.
