Study Policing at UniSA  

UniSA’s Bachelor of Management (Policing) program provides a professional level of management education for South Australian Police Officers.

The Bachelor of Management (Policing) is designed to enable graduates to acquire skills and knowledge that will assist them to work and develop as productive and socially responsible Police Officers in a local and global context.

The program

The Bachelor of Management (Policing) consists of nine core courses and three electives. The program can be completed in 1.5 years full-time equivalent. The Bachelor of Management (Policing) is a voluntary degree, with broad opportunities to recognise previous study and experience Police Officers have acquired throughout their career.

Courses covered within the degree include but are not limited to: Management principles, criminology, restorative justice, ethics, law of administrative procedures, organisational behaviour and managing decision making.

Students may be able to apply for a second undergraduate degree when nearing completion of the Bachelor of Management (Policing). A second degree may be completed in as little as one year of extra study. Students should discuss this option with the Undergraduate Student Advisor, as not all business degrees can be linked with the Bachelor of Management (Policing). Alternatively, students may choose to continue with postgraduate study to further advance their knowledge in management.

Flexibility

UniSA is committed to providing flexible study options that give you a choice about when and where you choose to study. The Bachelor of Management (Policing) is designed for Police Officers who wish to combine part-time or full-time study with work. Most courses are available through online delivery, external delivery and on campus which gives you the freedom to balance your study requirements together with your work and home life.

Entry requirements

The Bachelor of Management (Policing) is open to South Australian Police Officers only. There is an entry requirement of the Advanced Diploma of Policing or equivalent; and permanent appointment to Constable. The equivalent includes: Police Studies Certificate plus 14 years SAPOL service or Associate Diploma in Justice Administration and 5 years SAPOL experience. Students will be granted 12 courses credit for previous study of the above.

Applications into the degree are to be lodged via SATAC either online or in hard copy. The hard copy SATAC guides can be purchased at newsagencies across the state
