Ms Madge McGuire

From the shores of Glasgow, Scotland, Madge McGuire migrated to Australia with her husband and two children in 1981, and resided in Naracoorte until moving to Adelaide in 1985.

In October 2001 Madge was appointed as the Director of Catherine House Inc. Catherine House offers supported accommodation to women over the age of 21, unaccompanied by children, who are affected by homelessness. The organisation works with over 700 women a year.

Madge can be described as an adventurer with determination and passion. In March 2004, as a complete novice, she trekked to Mt Everest Base Camp to raise money to establish a Vocational Education and Development Centre for women at Catherine House. The Centre offers a range of recreational and educational courses and pathways into further formal study and links into employment.

Prior to her Director position, Madge has held senior management and executive roles on the Diocesan Pastoral Team and at ITIM Australia. She is currently a board/committee member of five government and non-government bodies including Inner City Homeless Services Integration Network Executive and SA Network of Drugs and Alcohol Services Management Committee.

Madge is a graduate of UniSA’s Bachelor of Social Work.
