UniSA back in 2011

UniSA Arch. Preparations are underway for the 2011 Santos Tour Down Under, being held from January 16-23. While the cyclists for Team UniSA-Australia won’t be announced until December, each stage of the tour has now been revealed.

There are some new inclusions for the race routes, as well as familiar classics including the popular and scenic Fleurieu Peninsula route which takes in Willunga Hill for Stage 5. The race will again finish with a city circuit for Stage 6 on Sunday, 23 January.

2011 Tour Down Under

Cancer Council Classic: Sunday, 16 January
Distance: 51km around the Adelaide East End
Start 6:15pm; Finish 7:15pm

Stage 1: Tuesday, 18 January
Distance: 138km from Mawson Lakes through to the Barossa with a finish in Angaston
Start: 11am and finish 2.29pm approximately

Stage 2: Wednesday, 19 January
Distance: 146km from Tailem Bend through the Adelaide Hills to Mannum
Start: 11am and finish approximately 2.41pm

Stage 3: Thursday, 20 January
Distance: 129km from Unley through the McLaren Vale wine region to Stirling in the Adelaide Hills
Start: 11am and finish approximately 2.34pm

Stage 4 (also Mutual Community Challenge ride): Friday, 21 January
Distance: 124km from Norwood through the hills including Hahndorf and finishing in Strathalbyn
Start: 11am and finish approximately 2.28pm

Stage 5: Saturday, 22 January
Distance: 131km starting in McLaren Vale with circuits that finish in Willunga
Start: 11am and finish approximately 2.19pm

Stage 6: Sunday, 23 January
Distance: 90km city circuit
Start: 1pm and finish approximately 3.15pm
