Jay McCarthy

19-year-old Jay McCarthy joins the team after a breakthrough 2011 that saw the young up-and-comer win stages in Europe as well as winning the 2011 Darren Smith award for road cycling. Last year McCarthy wore the Leader’s Jersey for several stages of the Internationale Thüringen Rundfahrt in Germany. McCarthy was also named as a member of the Under-23 Australian Team at the UCI Road World Championships in Denmark. 2010 was an exceptional year for the young Queenslander, seeing him become the Australian Junior Road Race champion and taking second place at the Under-19 World Junior Road Racing Championships. The 2012 Santos Tour Down Under will be the ideal event to showcase his ability on the big stage.
