After a rest day the competitors will be feeling fresh and wanting to get off to a good start to set them up for the remainder of the Santos Tour Down Under as they race the 149km first stage
The 148km, 3 hour 45 minute race is dominated by hills, winding its way through iconic South Australian towns such as Gumeracha, Birdwood and Oakbank.
This stage is mostly flat except for a 40km-section, which will test riders as they rise from just above sea level to a peak of over 300m just before Mount Compass.
The Bupa Stage 4 of the Santos Tour Down Under sees another day of hills for the world's best cyclists to negotiate, but could also offer some of the best vantage points for spectators.
The Fleurieu Penisula is home to the Jayco Stage 5 of the Santos Tour Down Under, which is also the longest stage of the Tour at 151.5km and will take the riders just under four hours.
Riders return to the city for the final stage of the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under, cycling 20 fast and furious laps of the Adelaide street circuit totalling 90km over approximately two hours.
