Down Under Classic – Adelaide East End

Santos Tour Down Under riders will be on show for the first time in today's curtain-raiser in the vibrant East End of Adelaide as they complete 30 laps of the closed circuit course.

Stage one – Prospect to Clare

17 Jan

After a rest day the competitors will be feeling fresh and wanting to get off to a good start to set them up for the remainder of the Santos Tour Down Under as they race the 149km first stage

Stage two – Lobethal to Stirling

18 Jan

The 148km, 3 hour 45 minute race is dominated by hills, winding its way through iconic South Australian towns such as Gumeracha, Birdwood and Oakbank.

Stage three – Unley to Victor Harbor

19 Jan

This stage is mostly flat except for a 40km-section, which will test riders as they rise from just above sea level to a peak of over 300m just before Mount Compass.

Bupa Stage 4 – Norwood to Tanunda

20 Jan

The Bupa Stage 4 of the Santos Tour Down Under sees another day of hills for the world's best cyclists to negotiate, but could also offer some of the best vantage points for spectators.

Jayco stage five – McLaren Vale to Old Willunga Hill

21 Jan

The Fleurieu Penisula is home to the Jayco Stage 5 of the Santos Tour Down Under, which is also the longest stage of the Tour at 151.5km and will take the riders just under four hours.

Stage six – Adelaide City Council Street

22 Jan

Riders return to the city for the final stage of the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under, cycling 20 fast and furious laps of the Adelaide street circuit totalling 90km over approximately two hours.
