Indigenous Studies & Australian Studies

In 2012, UniSA will offer a new undergraduate program in Indigenous Cultures and Australian Society. Apply now through SATAC to be part of an exciting new learning experience.

UniSA's new Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Cultures and Australian Society)  will give you the opportunity to explore our history and cultures and their impact on contemporary Aboriginal issues. You will also study Australia in a rapidly changing world with opportunities to develop your critical understanding of:

Indigenous Knowledges: Aboriginal cultures and societies and their relationships with Australian and international contexts across a range of social, economic and political settings.

Australian Studies: current organisational and social theories in the analysis of Aboriginal issues as they intersect and operate within the context of contemporary Australian social and political systems.

Australian History: the complexities of Australian society and culture prior to and following European settlement; and the impact of historical policies and practices on Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in contemporary Australian societies.

Double degrees are also available with Education and Social Work and for those of you who have already completed an undergraduate degree, you can study a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters in Aboriginal Studies. With the added knowledge and qualifications you'll gain, you'll be in a much stronger position to help make a positive change and bring a new passion, perspective and vision to create a better life for Indigenous and non Indigenous Australia.
