Our five star MBA
by Heather Leggett
UniSA’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) has this year been placed among the top ten MBA programs in the country by two highly respected industry affiliates.
The program has been selected alongside just eight other universities Australia-wide to receive the maximum five star rating from the Graduate Management Association of Australia, published in the Good Universities Guide.
In another accolade, the MBA has been ranked sixth in the Australian Financial Review (AFR) BOSS magazine survey for 2009, cementing its place as one of the leading programs in Australia.
Professor Malcolm Wright of UniSA’s International Graduate School of Business says the MBA’s edge includes the fact that it’s the only MBA in the State to be offered by an internationally accredited business school.
And enrolments in the program continue to rise, despite the economic downturn.
"Enrolments have increased by 20 per cent in the past 12 months," Prof Wright says.
"When employment prospects are not as strong, people realise it can be a good time to advance their education."
Many of the program’s graduates have gone on to senior management positions. Current student Kate Thiele, who has just been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Guide Dogs (SA and NT), says the MBA has improved her employability.
"There is no doubt that it has helped me become a better leader and advanced my career," she says.
Vice Chancellor Peter Høj says that the five star rating reflects the dedication of UniSA’s International Graduate School of Business.
"The School works hard to ensure that the program consistently delivers high quality teaching and an exceptional curriculum," he says.
