How to author webpages
Before you can use the web authoring tools, you must first undergo corporate web template training and get authorisation to access the corporate web server. See accessing the corporate web server.
Web authoring tool kit
The authoring tools have been designed to make authoring on the web as streamlined as possible. The authoring 'tool kit' consists of
- Templates: author uses these to create webpages with a consistent look and feel
- FRONTPAGE to ASP form conversion tool: author uses this tool to make a FrontPage form functional
- Menu Editor: author uses this tool to create a navigation menu (information architecture) for the site
- Publishing tool: author uses this tool to publish the site to the live web (prodweb)
There is also an accessibility compliance checking tool (Bobby), which the corporate web team may use to check user accessibility of your site.
For a diagram of the publishing processes (using olddev and newdev) go to Understanding the authoring environment.
