Hydraulic Modelling
Testing of hydraulic components under scaled down conditions

Specification and Capability
The AIHTC can be engaged to conduct hydraulic modelling of systems or components. This can be an effective risk mitigation tool for large hydraulic projects, the relatively small input cost of the modelling can save major cost implications of having to modify a substantial piece of infrastructure after construction. Also data obtained from running flow scenarios can be used to optimise other components in a connected network. Some examples of hydraulic model testing that has been conducted by the AIHTC are listed below. The photo above shows a weir being modelled with a fishway bypass, click here for a larger version of this image, or a second image.
- Fishway hydraulic models.
- Locks and weir system modelling.
- Power station cooling water hydraulic models.
- Surface water models for creeks, drainage systems, stream flows and other modelling.
